Caring Well

It's good to care. But it's not always easy. Especially with the variety of people who turn to the church for help. Sometimes it's hard to know what to do. Sometimes it's exhausting. Sometimes it's frustrating. And it's often costly.

But caring well can be life-giving, and not only for the person being cared for. It can be a privelege and humbling. It can shatter pre-conceived ideas you never realise you held and open your eyes to different perspectives and experiences. It can help you tune into the echoes of God in ways you don't expect, and it certainly gets you to lean on him.

There are wise and gracious pastoral carers with a depth of experience and insight that I have been deeply blessed by. And to them I am immensely grateful. I've drawn on what I have learnt from them, and from the amazing bunch of people who I have had the privelege of walking with in their hurts and struggles.

And from this I am offering a growing number of blogs that I hope are relevant to all who want to care well.
