Connect with the Bible: Autumn Ideas for Individuals, Small Groups and Support Hubs
With a new season coming, your Small Group or your Hub might be looking for material that can help you connect the Bible, your lives and God. The Adult Discipleship Group recognises that different groups have different needs, so are offering a few different ideas. We suggest you prayerfully listen to God, to each other and to yourself in deciding which material you use.

read & discuss the books of the Bible that feature in the Sunday services
The Sunday services will be exploring Philippians, 1 Thessalonians and Ephesians between September and December. As you read and discuss these books, you might find the Theology of Work Bible Commentary to be a helpful resource (scroll right down and you'll find there are comments on passages from all three letters).
Looking to dig deep in Bible Study...
consider doing our Focus Series on 'Earthy Spirituality for Everyday Christians' based on the first part of David's life (1 Samuel 16-30)
Aware of what a demanding time these past few months have been, I was really inspired and encouraged in my faith this summer by Eugene Peterson's reflections on the life of David in his book 'Leap Over the Wall. I think there's really value in us exploring David's story and reflecting on Peterson's wisdom, and so I've written a series for Small Groups and Individuals which you might find helpful. The sessions cover themes of Names, Work, Imagination, Friendship, Sanctuary, Wilderness, Beauty and more. The first four will be available from September 1st from Sera.
Looking to engage with current issues...
Watch this space, for in October the Global and Local Mission Group will be running our first 'Let's Think About' series on the theme of race. More information coming soon
Looking for something that speaks to your specific needs and situation...
try a reading plan from Bible App (available on PCs and or on phones)
You can find plans for kids and adults covering a wide range of themes, and each day a Bible passage and reflection can come straight to your phone or PC.
