Discovering The Wildlife Making Its Home in our Church Grounds
Making homes for nature is really important. At St Denys we're passionate about making our grounds wildlife friendly.
Here are some of things we've done:
- Planted over 100 native wildflowers plugs in the last year
- Put up bird boxes, including swift boxes
- Leaving some areas of long grass
- Created a wildlife hotels
Now it's time to see what wildlife is making it's home here. This might include things with great names like:
- bugle
- speedwell
- Bird's-foot-trefoil
- dogstail
- hawkbit
- and lots of different birds and insects
We're going to do some spotting on Sunday 11th June, after the Sunday service - about 11.15 till 12
Do come and join in. You don't need to be an expert (we'll have guides on hand to help), you just need to be interested. Young or old. Local or visitor. Nature-geek or complete novice... everyone is welcome to come and explore.
And then we'll be adding our information to the national records, as part of 'Count on Nature' and this will be added to the National Biodiversity Network Atlas.
