A safe, welcoming and supportive group where children and their carers can come together to sing, share a book, chat and build supportive friendships. For children under 5 and their carers. No need to book, just turn up and join in.
There’s normally between 20 and 30 children and their grown-ups. We have drums, egg shakers, tambourines and lots of soft toys to play with. Everyone makes themselves comfortable on the cushions and we start with a ‘Welcome Song’. Then it’s time for our chosen book, and as we go through the pages we sing songs inspired by the story. Following this we have a general sing-song, some of our favourites are ‘Old Macdonald’ and ‘I Like To Ride My Bicycle’. We always like to finish the first half with bubbles and the ‘Good Bye Song’.
The second half hour is a chance to chat and have a drink and snack. Conversations bounce between music, work, home life and the highs and lows of parenting. It’s a good time to pick other people’s brains on questions you might have about anything from teething to choosing schools. And then it’s all hands on deck for tidying away ready for another week.
